My name is Geri deGruy and I am a Colorado-based fine artist.
My work is experimental and intuitive.
It is play.
Creating usually begins with selecting a palette of color,
mostly acrylic paints but often other materials as well...
oils, graphite, collage materials, watercolor.
Then the wild rumpus begins!
The painting itself and my inner stories propel the work
as I lay down layers and layers of color, shapes and structure, marks, erasures and symbols.
The interplay and drama of color informs my vision.
Usually I only know what a piece is saying when it is complete.
I'm always trying something new, seeing what would happen if...
So the work changes over time.
It's a long journey, and the landscape changes as time goes by,
each new scene fresh, unexplored.
I love it!
