Sweet and Bittersweet
AUTUMN!

Autumn is a beautiful time. Reds and oranges and yellows pop up in the middle of greens. The air is often clearer and cooler than it has been. Birds and other creatures begin preparations for winter. The air smells fragrant with falling leaves. The sky here in Colorado is blue blue.

Autumn is difficult for some people though. The summer is ending, plants are dying back, winter is ahead.
One autumn, when I was in a great deal of pain because of the loss of a relationship, I was walking, kicking leaves, mourning. But my inner voice told me that yes I was in a time of loss, yes it was an internal autumn, yes I felt like I was dying. But just because the leaves fall off the trees doesn't mean that the tree is dead. Some things have to let go in order for others to be birthed. Autumn and winter are times for the growth that happens underground, growth that isn't yet visible. We don't see growth but it is happening in the quiet secret places of our heart and soul.
