We were in Washington, D.C. last weekemd. My brilliant husband Frank was being inducted into the Institute of Medicine. Well deserved!

In the few hours I had before we left, I dashed to the National Gallery of Art. The East Building houses the contemporary collection.

The building is lovely...open, clean lined and airy. Alexander Calder's "Untitled" is suspended midair and the ceiling, consisting of large shaded triangular shapes, lets in light.

Here are just some of the amazing artworks I saw.

This is the wall of the walkway between the east and west buildings. The lights move all around. Very fun. 

If you get a chance to visit Washington,D.C., don't miss this.  Wonderful museum, great tours. There are also tours online and lots of art and information.
