As I said yesterday, sometimes I can relax creating small projects which are essentially experimental and playful. Some are too large to be used in cards but don't qualify (yet anyway) as completed pieces. 

For example, it's fun for me to assemble collages. Although there is a kind of structure to unite the piece, it is mostly a layerering of pieces to satisfy a purpose/theme, need or aesthetic. In these 3 examples, I used parts of magazine pages, art papers, fabrics, paint, stencils, gesso, markers and some stitch to create simple collages.

-The first was a way to jump start my creativity one day with images of things I like, an outpouring of my yummies. 

It was a lot of fun and turned out to be a colorful piece I tacked on my studio wall for quite a while. 

-The next is a black and white collage. I wanted it to have a graphic quality as well as hint at some of the definitions of black and white. 

I find it's useful to tear pages out of magazines that I like or that make an impact on me for just this reason. 

-The third collage is on muslin. Placing fabric and paper pieces around the muslin, I got into a rhythm with the piece and a general color theme. Adding gesso, then paints and markers as accents gave it a bit more shape. 

Although these pieces are larger than cards, they can be cut up into interesting sections for that use as cards.
